NOTeD: Dr. David Katz Discusses the True Health Initiative and More

Tom Rifai, MD, FACP
In this episode of NOTeD, I have the distinct pleasure of interviewing the founder of the platform in which NOTeD lives: the True Health Initiative’s founder, Dr. David Katz.
Dr. Tom showcases Dr. Katz's book, The Truth About Food

Dr. Katz is, without question, one of the top leaders and pioneers in nutrition, lifestyle as medicine and, recently, the discussion surrounding best approaches to minimize harm as it relates to managing the COVID pandemic.

A best-selling author, Dr. Katz earned his BA degree from Dartmouth College in 1984, MD from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1988 and a Masters in Public Health from the Yale University School of Public Health in 1993. He then completed sequential residency training in internal medicine and preventive medicine/public health, ultimately becoming President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and served as the founding Director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. Dr. Katz left this role after two decades of leadership to head his new company, Diet ID, as its full-time CEO.

Dr. Katz is, above all, a humanist, and since March of 2020, has made the case for a total harm minimization approach to manage the Covid-19 pandemic. He has been interviewed about this strategy on a wide variety of platforms.

Dr. Katz gives us his thoughts on why the True Health Initiative is so sorely needed now, during a time of information overload and a cacophony of confusion when it comes to nutrition and lifestyle (and of course the pandemic). He also provides a number of very touching insights into his personal life that you won’t hear anywhere else but right here, on NOTeD.

Please enjoy the interview below and allow me to introduce you to the preeminent Dr. David Katz.
