
Jae Mather is a Sustainability Director who influences senior leaders to move beyond theory to the practical application through innovating new technologies, training, and services. He designs and implements energy efficiency and climate change strategies across the built environment, government and NGO sectors.
He is currently wearing multiple hats as the Director of Sustainability at the Carbon Free Group and a Partner at Responsible Worlds. For more than 15 years he has been instrumental in shaping the sustainability agenda across Europe including running the Eco-Enterprise, the first EU funded environmental technology support programme in the UK and shaping policy at local government and for companies such as Heitman, ARM, and Footlocker.
Jae speaks as keynote at more than 25 events a year and runs his own Sustainability Explored event series that has delivered 95 events reaching 4K+ attendees. He is a guest lecturer on the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership programme and on the University of Birmingham MBA. Jae has published articles on energy efficiency, the business case for sustainability, and macro trends in the Guardian and edie.
He sits on the steering group of the Global Association of Corporate Sustainability Officers (GACSO) and is a member of the climate change and energy working-group at the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) where he advises on strategy and policy development.
Jae is an IEMA and the RSA Fellow, a Chartered Environmentalist, and is GRI G4 Certified.
He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Decision Making from The Open University in the UK as well as a BA in Geography from Simon Fraser University in Canada.
