Dr. An Pan is Professor of Epidemiology at School of Public Health, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology since 2015. Dr. Pan received his PhD degree from the Graduate University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2009, and worked as a research fellow at the Department of Nutrition, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from 2009 to 2012, and as an Assistant Professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, National University of Singapore from 2012 to 2015.
Dr. Pan’s research is mainly focused on nutritional epidemiology of chronic metabolic diseases, including but not limited to obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease. Dr. Pan has led and involved in several nutritional intervention studies as well as large population-based cohort studies to understand the role of nutrients/food/dietary pattern on risk of chronic diseases. Meanwhile he has a broad interest in other potential risk factors of chronic diseases, such as occupational and environmental factors (shift work, incense use, heavy metals), lifestyle factors (smoking and physical activity), psychiatric factors (depression and stress), early-life phicisians. exposures including Dr. Pan has published >130 original papers (H-index 40) and was actively invited to attend international and domestic conferences. Dr. Pan is serving on the editorial board of Nutrition & Metabolism, BMC Endocrine Disorders, Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications, and Chinese Journal of Preventive Medicine, and frequently invited as ad hoc reviewers for New Engl J Med, JAMA, BMJ etc.
