Prof. Dr. med. Dr. phil. Karl-Heinz Schulz is the scientific head of the department of sports and exercise medicine at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, Germany. He is co-founder and member of the directorial board of the German Society of Lifestyle Medicine (GSLM) and the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization (ELMO). As a qualified psychologist and licenced psychotherapist and a trained physician, he graduated in both disciplines (Dr. phil. and Dr. med.) and conferred qualification as a Professor in Medical Psychology. His main interest is interdisciplinary scientific research in medicine, of which he conducted studies in the areas of neuroimmunology, oncology, transplantation and exercise medicine. He received several grants by German ministries, the German Research Foundation and scientific and private foundations, has decades of experience of teaching and supervised numerous theses. He published more than 200 scientific articles and is member of several German academic societies.
