Dr. Charles S. Layne is a professor and chairperson of the Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Houston.  As an investigator of movement activities for over 30 years he has studied a variety of exercise-related activities with a number of populations, including astronauts, children, Parkinsonian patients, healthy adults, obese individuals and spinal cord injured patients.  He has used with a large variety of movement measurement equipment, including kinematics, force plates, electromyography, posturographic platforms, virtual reality, and accelerometers. In addition to his research interests in human movement control, Dr. Layne has extensive experience in the use of web-based technology to promote student learning.  He is the recipient of several grants designed to increase the accessibility of web-based learning modules for diverse student populations.
